  • 17:40 - 18:40 - Keynote: Steps to Wisdom - Kate Gregory
Do you have to be old to be wise? You do not. You can learn and discover wisdom over a lifetime, but you can also learn small lessons that open the doors to a wiser way of living – at any age.

This talk presents a selection of lessons that can make a real difference in how you write code, architect systems, participate in meetings, manage your career, and generally live. Some of it you already know, but aren’t relying on. Some of it will be new to you. I want to give you the confidence to tackle things the way a wise person tackles them, and the benefits that can bring you.

  • 20:00 - 21:00 - Quiz w. Anders Knatten

Kate Gregory

Kate Gregory is an enthusiastic C++ programmer and teacher, and has been paid to program since 1979. She believes that software should make our lives easier. That includes making the lives of developers easier! She'll stay up late arguing about deterministic destruction or how modern C++ is not the C++ you remember. She is one of the three leads of the Carbon Language project, a founder of #include <C++>, and on the board of C++ Toronto, which runs CppNorth.

Kate runs a small consulting firm in rural Ontario and provides mentoring and management consultant services, as well as writing code every week. She has spoken all over the world, written over a dozen books, and helped thousands of developers to be better at what they do. Kate is a Visual C++ MVP, and develops courses for Pluralsight, primarily on C++.

Anders Schau Knatten

Anders started programming in Turbo Pascal in 1995, and has been programming professionally in various languages since 2001. He's currently a principal engineer at Ascenium in Oslo, working on a new CPU design. He's also the author of http://cppquiz.org and the blog C++ on a Friday.
